LAMBAT SIBAT

MALASIQUI—A 64 year-old man, also the top 13 most wanted person in the province’s “Lambat Sibat” priority list here sustained a minor gunshot wound in his buttock after a brief gunfire with arresting police officers in his resident in Barangay Songkoy in Calasiao on November 18.

P/Supt. Armando Muena, chief of Malasiqui Police Station (MPS) said the suspect Regino San Diego, wanted for frustrated homicide, attempted to escape before the warrant of arrest issued by Judge Hermogenes Fernandez, presiding judge of regional trial court branch 56 of San Carlos dated January 9, 2012, could be served.

“He fired at the policemen serving the warrant of arrest thus prompting our officers to return fire and hit the suspect in his buttock”, said Muena.

The suspect was brought to the hospital before he was detained.

Muena said additional charges such as assault upon an agent of person in authority, resisting arrest and illegal possession of firearm and ammunitions were filed against the suspect.

“We are investigating the suspect as he has a gun which might have been used in other crimes”, said Muena.

The operation was coordinated with the Calasiao Police Station.

San Diego is the third wanted person arrested by the MPS, the top three and four were also arrested two weeks ago. (Hilda Austria)
