Suspected tandem criminals shot dead

LINGAYEN— Two suspected motorcycle-riding hitmen were shot dead in an armed encounter with the police at 1 a.m. of November 9, 2015 in Urdaneta City.

Julius Velasco from Binmaley and Fred Victorio from Dagupan City were killed in a shooting encounter with the Urdaneta City Police Station (UCPS) special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team along the boundary of Barangay Labit Proper and Barangay Pinmaludpod.

According to the UCPS) chief, P/Supt. Jeff Fanged, the station received a text message from a concerned citizen alerting the police of the presence of two suspicious-looking persons driving around on a motorcycle.

The two were seen roaming around Brgy. Labit numerous times, said Fanged.

As the deployed SWAT team proceeded to check the information, they met the suspects on the bridge.

When the SWAT team flagged down the suspects, the latter immediately fired at the SWAT team and the exchange ensued.

Velasco, who showed a sign of life, was rushed to the Urdaneta City General Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Confiscated from the suspects were two short firearms and one hand grenade.
