LINGAYEN— After being elevated to the Hall of Fame in the search for the National Best Provincial Employment Service Office (PESO) Award, the Pangasinan PESO is not resting on its laurel.

It plans to further intensify its migration and development program, Bukas Pinto sa Negosyo at Matuto sa Eksperto, through different projects already lined up in partnership with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and launch of grassroots access to training and employment.

This was reported by Alex Ferrer, PESO manager, to Governor Amado Espino Jr. on Monday, November 2, after he turned over the Hall of Fame award during the provincial government’s regular flag raising ceremony at the Capitol Plaza.

The PESO manager said the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) Family Association (OFWFA) was already organized and registered as a workers’ association and the Bantay Barangay, Tulong Hanapbuhay has helped organize (OFWFA) in every town and mapping of these families are now being conducted by OFW volunteers.

The computerized data management systems in some towns are also now in place and are being used for planning and implementation of developmental programs.

The Bantay Barangay, Tulong Hanapbuhay program became the provincial government’s conduit to the barangays conduits for OFW programs, livelihood and employment opportunities, and even career guidance.

It also enjoins wider participation to the anti-drug, illegal recruitment and human trafficking campaign of the provincial government, he added.

Mr. Espino said the OFW families continue to be organized to create a better communication link with the families.

Last week, the Capitol has also completed providing all the OFW family associations in the 47 towns of the province with startup fund worth P10,000 each to be used to help defray expenses of their respective livelihood ventures. (Johanne Macob)
