MALASIQUI—The police filed murder charges at the Prosecutor’s Office on Nov. 9 against a policeman detailed in Urdaneta for allegedly killing his neighbor on Nov. 7.

P/Supt. Armando Muena, town police chief, told The PUNCH that PO1 Jubert de Vera, 33, resident of Barangay Palong here was arrested few minutes after he shot dead his business partner Raymond de Guzman, 43.

De Vera succumbed to bullet wounds from a 9 mm handgun as evidenced by two empty shells recovered at the crime scene. The suspect also left his cellular phone at de Vera’s residence when he fled after the incident.

He allegedly barged inside De Guzman’s house that was near his residence in the same barangay and shot the victim apparently due to misunderstanding from commissions on a lot sold by the two as agents.

Mejia was off-duty from his work in Urdaneta City Police Station when the incident happened, Muena said. (Tita Roces)
