LINGAYEN— The 18 towns comprising the first and second districts in the province received on Friday (November 27) an early Christmas gift from the provincial government, as each was provided with a multipurpose vehicle.

The multipurpose vehicles, Mitsubishi L300 model, were turned over to the respective Liga ng mga Barangay (LB) municipal/city federation during a blessing/turnover ceremony held at the Capitol Plaza.

According to Board Member Amado ‘Pogi’ Espino III, LB provincial federation president, the provision of said vehicles was the provincial government’s response to the LB’s request last year.

“The vehicles are a big help to every Liga ng mga Barangay, as we all know the barangay (village) is the frontliner of government service,” he said.

Espino then reminded barangay officials that the vehicles are “for official use only.”

The 18 vehicles were received by the towns of Agno, Sual, Mabini, Infanta, Dasol, Burgos, Anda, Bolinao, Bani, Alaminos City, Labrador, Lingayen, Aguilar, Bugallon, Mangatarem, Urbiztondo, Binmaley, and Basista.

The remaining 29 towns from the third to sixth districts are expected to receive their multipurpose vehicles on December 8, said Espino.

Gov. Amado T. Espino Jr. said the project helps “give dignity to the frontliners in public service.”

He then called on barangay officials to uphold integrity in the performance of their duties.

“You were elected by the people of your barangay, you should give justice to that,” he told them.

The over P48 million funding for the procurement of 47 vehicles was from the 2015 provincial budget.- (Johanne Macob)
