WAR VS. ILLEGAL DRUGS IN THE CITY

A THIRTEEN-year old boy from Sitio Silungan in Barangay Bonuan Binloc was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation conducted by lawmen near the vicinity of the Dagupan Treatment and Drug Rehabilitation Center (DDTRC) at 11:45 of Nov. 18.

“Brandon” (not his real name), a Grade 7 pupil, was arrested by joint elements of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG) and the Dagupan City Police when he sold shabu to a police agent who paid him P300 marked money.

When frisked, lawmen found from the boy’s pocket five more sachets of suspected shabu weighing eight grams.

CARTOONnews 151123A case for violation of Republic Act 9165 is now being prepared against the suspect but will likely be referred to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) being a minor.

The incident again confirmed that the drug syndicates operating in Dagupan, particularly at Sitio Silungan in Bonuan Binloc and Bonuan Gueset are already using minors not only as drug couriers but also task them to sell shabu and build their own set of clientele.

Last Oct. 22, combined elements of PDEA, Dagupan police and provincial police raided a drug den in Sitio Silungan and arrested 17 young peddlers and users that confirmed intelligence reports that Barangay Bonuan Binloc is the major source of illegal drug filtering into many areas in Dagupan as well as in Pangasinan.

Meanwhile, three brothers and their companion were arrested in a buy-bust operation in front of a Caltex gasoline station in Bonuan Gueset at12:30 p.m. of Nov. 18.

The Melecio brothers sold one sachet of shabu for P300 to a confidential agent that resulted to their arrest.

Their other brother, Michael, 31, and another person Arnold Martines, 48, of Lucao who were inside the sidecar of the tricycle, were found with one-heat sealed plastic sachet of shabu each and were also arrested.

The police continue to score against drug peddlers in another drug hot spot in Dagupan City.

They were caught by lawmen conspiring with each other in selling illegal drugs during buy-bust operation conducted against them.

A confidential agent was able to arrange a meeting with the suspects and informed them of their desire to buy P200 worth of shabu.

After the exchange, police agents who were monitoring the transaction moved in to arrest the couple after a pre-arrange signal.

Recovered from Matabia, aside from the bust-buy money were four sachets of shabu and another 11 from Morante. (Leonardo Micua)
