Javier rules Pampanga duathlon

FRESH from his stint abroad and the national championship, Sto. Tomas town’s national mainstay Robeno Javier conquered the Bike King Duathlon Championship held in Porac, Pampanga on September 27.  

He outdistanced his closest rivals, co-national team member Joey delos Reyes and provincemate Robinson Estebes, in the bike race and protected the lead up to the last run to rule the 6K run-60K bike-4K run with a time of two hours, seven minutes and 58 seconds.

Javier who placed 16th in the world duathlon championship in Switzerland on September 5 and second in the national event in Cebu City on September 12 said, “I just came back from Switzerland and was not really in good shape for that race. Which was why I really worked hard to train for this race.”

Mirasol Abad of Manila topped the female elite event with a clocking of 2:37:53. (Jesus Garcia Jr.)
