DSWD to accommodate complaints about ‘Listahanan’

DAGUPAN CITY— If you have any complaints about the Listahanan: Talaan ng Pamilyang Nangangailangan (previously the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), you have 30 days within which to submit your view about the inclusion or exclusion of certain households in the list.

According to DSWD Field Office 1 assistant regional director Marlene Peralta, DSWD will start posting results of their family assessment dubbed in the third week of October.

The posting of the list will be over a 15-day period to be followed by a 30-day period to accommodate any complaints about inclusion or non-inclusion of certain households in the list by the Local Verification Committee.

The committee will be composed of each local government unit’s municipal social welfare and development office, municipal planning and development coordinator, and three accredited non-government organizations, said Anniely Ferrer, DSWD-FO1 focal person on Listahanan.

DSWD will finalize the official list of poor of households before the year ends after the validation of the complaints.

The database is updated every four years.

“Next year, we will have an updated list of poor households from which will come potential beneficiaries of different social protection programs,” said Ferrer.

As of July 1, 2011 number of poor households in Pangasinan is 46,178.

The towns in the region with highest magnitude of poor households are in Pangasinan namely San Carlos City with 6% or 8,921 households; Malasiqui with 5.41% or 8,034 households; and Bayambang 5.01% or 7,445.

Ferrer clarified, however, that it is due to the province’s land area and population. (Johanne Macob)
