GOV. Amado T. Espino, Jr. cancelled classes in all levels including tertiary in the entire province of Pangasinan last Friday. October 2, due to the heavy rains brought by tropical storm Kabayan.

In a declaration of cancellation of classes issued by the office of the governor, Espino said the advisory was due to the automatic cancellation of classes based on Malacanang Executive Order 66 series of 2012 which states, “that classes in preschool, elementary and high school levels shall be automatically cancelled once the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services (PAGASA) raised storm warning signal number 2 in that area.”

PAGASA placed Pangasinan under storm signal number 2 along with other provinces in Northern Luzon due to the intensified rain and wind brought by tropical storm Kabayan on Thursday night.

The cancellation of classes covers the 44 towns and three cities in the province, excluding Dagupan City, a chartered city, but Dagupan City Mayor Belen Fernandez also suspended classes in all levels including tertiary both in public and private schools in Dagupan City on Friday.  (Hilda Austria)
