Toddler drowns in pail of water
BAYAMBANG—An 11-month-old girl drowned in a pail of water on Sept. 9 in their residence in Barangay Nalsian Sur here.
Based on police investigation, the victim, Sianne Caguioa was playing around the vicinity where her mother, Lourdes Caguio, was washing clothes in their house.
Police Senior Inspector Edgar Torres, investigation officer of the town police station, said that the mother tried to keep an eye on her daughter while she was washing clothes but in a matter of minutes she missed seeing her child getting into the pale.
Lourdes immediately pulled out her unconscious child from the pail and rushed her to the Bayambang District Hospital where was declared dead on arrival by her attending doctor.
Torres said the mother, who was in a state of shock, attempted to stab herself out of despair but was stopped by policemen.
The fatality was the third child of Lourdes, whose husband works in Dubai.
The police ruled out foul play based on results of post-mortem examination. (Tita Roces)
