POZORRUBIO– Four school children drowned separately in the province on Sept. 20 and 21.

Two drowned in a river in Barangay Buneg this town Monday, namely Robinson Igros and Michael Calatian, both aged 9.

The victims’ families thought the two went to school. They blamed quarrying in the river for the death of the two boys.

In San Carlos City, Mark Aaron Solomon, grade IV pupil, drowned in a swamp in Barangay Pangalangan Monday.

Solomon, 9, a resident of said place, went to a swamp with his classmates to catch spiders. But he decided to play in the swamp first and minutes later, he was crying for help prompting his classmates to run to his house for assistance.

His father, Harold Solomon, recovered the body of his son, his foot tangled in kangkong vines.

The victim was rushed to Pangasinan Provincial Hospital here but was pronounced dead on arrival by his attending physician.

On Sunday night, Shenrick Vallerio, 12, grade 7 and resident of Barangay Sapang, Bayambang town place drowned after swimming with two cousins in a fishpond in the barangay.

His grandmother, Erlinda Vallerio, said her grandson sought permission to go out to play computer games at a neighbor’s house.

But Shenrick, with his two cousins, instead proceeded to a fishpond nearby to swim where he drowned. (Tita Roces)
