INCOMPLETE BIOMETRICS

UNLESS they complete their biometric data with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), before the deadline on October 31, some 90,000 registered voters in Pangasinan will not be able to vote in the 2016 elections.

Atty. Marino Salas, provincial election supervisor again warned even as he called on the registered voters to avoid the last minute rush.

“We are asking them to complete their biometrics so that they will be able to exercise their right of suffrage”, said Salas.

Pangasinan had 330, 000 voters with incomplete biometrics before the start of validation period last 2014 and letters had been sent to them to inform them of their pending status.

He said under the Election Automation Law, voters with incomplete biometric data will not be allowed to vote hence the need for validation of voter’s registration.

“We will be in the office even on weekends accepting registrations and validations until October 31”, said Salas.

Pangasinan has 1, 655, 063 registered and validated voters as of August 2015.

Meanwhile, Dagupan City Election Officer Ericson Oganiza confirmed that 7,767 voters without biometric data are from Dagupan.

There are 95,991 voters in Dagupan per last election.

After Oct. 31, the names of voters without biometrics will be deleted from the list.  (Hilda Austria)
