UMINGAN—Two janitors of Umingan Central School here were shot and wounded by school’s security guard inside the campus last Monday.

The victims, identified as Marvin Pabalan and Aniano Perras, residents of Barangay Caurdanetaan of this town, were having a drinking spree in the school building when they were shot by Marlo Suitos, resident of Poblacion West here.

The victims were rushed to Umingan Community Hospital. Pabalan was hit in the shoulder and thigh while Perras was wounded in his foot.

P/Chief Inspector Remegio Yapes, police chief, told The PUNCH the victims identified the suspect who fled and remained at large at presstime.

Yapes said the three, with some companions, began to have an argument owing to a misunderstanding when Suitos reportedly started shooting at them.

Investigators recovered six spent shells of caliber .45 at the crime scene. The school authorities, Yapes said, did not issue firearm to Suitos and it was not clear if Suitos was on duty and in uniform when the incident happened.

The school recently hired a security guard amid series of robberies that victimized schools in Pangasinan. (Tita Roces)
