Tourism skills contest set Sept. 22 at NRSCC

LINGAYEN- The Pangasinan Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) invites all colleges, universities and technical vocational institution offering tourism and Hotel and Restaurant Management related courses to take part in the 2nd Pangasinan Tourism Skills Competition on September 22 at Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center here.

The skills competition, a collaborative effort of the provincial government, Technical Education and Skills Development Agency and Department of Tourism-Region 1, is one of the highlights of the Tourism Month celebration next month.

As disclosed by the PTCAO chief Maria Luisa A. Elduayan, the competition aims to highlight the artistic prowess of students in different skills specializations like cookery, fruit and vegetable carving, bartending and flairtending, napkin folding, table skirting, table setting and virtual tour guiding.

To participate in the competition, a pre-registration is required among interested participants where a registration form should be duly signed by the school/university head. There will be no registration fee required.

Meanwhile, the PTCAO also announces that DOT-Region 1 is conducting a photography contest as part of the celebration.

The contest, which is open to all amateur or professional photographers except employees of the DOT has four categories. These include natural wonders, man-made attractions, festivals and events, food and delicacies.

Participants may enter a maximum of three of their best and unique photo for each category.

Photos submitted must not carry any identifying mark of the participant like signature or initials.

All photos should be shot anywhere in Region 1(Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan) from January 1, 2014 up to September 15 of this year.

Entries must be submitted along with the accomplished registration form at the DOT-Regional Office in San Fernando City, La Union.

Deadline of submission of entries will be until 5:00PM on September 15.
