Tayug archer wins 2 gold

LINGAYEN – A young athlete from Tayug performed creditably at the national finals of archery competition and racked up two gold medals in the Batang Pinoy Luzon Leg competition held in Guiguinto, Bulacan.

Arianne Jaiden Magarro, who scored 326 in the cadet 30m category to secure the championship, trounced her nemesis, Jazent Marie Tabanag of Paranaque City (322) and Antonia Tanabi of Guiguinto, Bulacan (311) who settled for 2nd and 3rd spots, respectively.

The Pangasinense archer again showed dominance in cadet – single fita category as she hit 1199 behind Paranaque City’s Jazent Marie Tabanag (1192) and Baguio City’s Brette Leean Hongitan (1187).

Magarro also placed second in cadet 50m; third in cadet N40; and cadet – team event with her team mates Chelsea Maxion and Cate Paksil, also from Tayug.

The archery team also shone in cub team event (boys) finals, settling in third place with Brad Stanley Carbon of Urdaneta City), Tayug archers James Cabote and Jose Alexandrius Lazazo.

Meanwhile, cyclists of Team Pangasinan will vie for dominance in the Batang Pinoy national finals slated in November to be held in Cebu City.

Team Pangasinan has been dominating the cycling competition of the Batang Pinoy for the past two years.

In related news, Team Pangasinan harvested 18 gold, 21 silver and 35 bronze medals in the week-long sports spectacle.

All winners in the Luzon Leg will advance to the national finals. (PIO)
