THE Fisheries Technologist board examination will finally be held on October 21-22 this year.

This was announced by Dr. Westly Rosario, newly installed chairman of the Board of Fisheries, during the KBP Forum last week, who said the last examination was held two years ago following the death of two members of the board.

Some 2,000 graduates nationwide are expected to take the examination in one of the three centers in Manila, Davao, and Iloilo. Deadline for application of filing is on Oct. 1.

Meanwhile, he advised senior citizens, who have not yet taken the examination but have been working in industries related to Fisheries work, to apply for an exemption under the Board’s “grandfather’s clause.”

Fisheries Board is one of the major requirements for people who wish to teach in universities or for the regularization of government employees.

Rosario noted there are a lot of vacant positions in regional offices as they are waiting for board passers.

There are over 80 schools in the country that offer BS Fisheries but only one in the province, the Pangasinan State University campus in Binmaley, Rosario said. (Johanne Macob)
