Energized by meeting with Sta. Barbara folks

COJUANGCO UPDATES

GETTING up close and personal with the people even in remotest and smallest barangays in Pangasinan is what keeps former Congressman Mark Cojuangco energized these days.

Last week, it was the turn of some barangay folk of Sta. Barbara town where Cojuangco, Calasiao Mayor Mark Roy Macanlalay, San Carlos City Councilor Vici Ventanilla were warmly welcomed by local officials led by Vice Mayor Juan Emmanuel Cabangon and barangay leaders.

The rains did not prevent Cojuangco’s group from fulfilling their promise to meet the people who patiently waited and attentively listened to the former congressman and his team.

In Barangay Bansal, for instance, it was witnessed by a PUNCH reporter how the people, about 300 of them, were not bothered by the mud at the silong na mangga (under a mango tree) where the consultation was held as rains fell.

An old man in his raincoat said it was the first time a gubernatorial wannabe of Pangasinan went to their place to personally get in touch with the people and listened to their concerns.

People saw how Cojuangco exerts an effort to reach out to as many people as he could and to let them know him better.

This same gesture of Cojuangco and his team was acknowledged by residents of Barangay Primicias who eagerly waited for Cojuangco’s team. Raindrops and sunset did not prevent some 200 residents from gathering in front of the barangay hall to see, listen, speak and laugh with Cojuangco and his colleagues.

The same happened in other barangays.

In all those face-offs with Cojuangco, Macanlalay and company, the former congressman, who, like a big brother, sincerely talked to his siblings and expressed his feelings, plans and goals for the upliftment of their home, the province of Pangasinan and the welfare of the people.

The meetings also provided an avenue for the former congressman to know more about the people’s concerns and how they hope would be properly addressed.

Cojuangco said he will continue to meet, greet and relate with the common people who have been longing for care and attention to their needs.
