THE Dagupan City Police Station (DCPS) was named recipient of the Philippine National Police’s Unit Achievement Award for the Solution of Sensational Cases in 2014 in both national and regional levels, besting 1,700 police stations, 140 city police stations in the country.

P/Supt. Christopher Abrahano, chief of DCPS received the award during the 114th Police Service Anniversary at Camp Crame last August 10.

In her State of the City Address last Monday, Mayor Belen Fernandez hailed and congratulated the DCPS’ latest feat.

Abrahano admitted 2014 was a difficult and busy year for the members of DCPS citing the various tough cases they handled including the shooting of a barangay captain inside the barangay hall, robbery-hold-up in a jewelry store and shooting of a media man.

“These cases were solved”, said Abrahano.

“We are glad that our higher commanders recognized that”, said Abrahano who took pride in the various crime prevention and crime solution programs that resulted in high crime solution efficiency.

Among these included the K (Kaibigang)-Pulis Dagupan, regular simulation exercises, Oplan Sita, Patrol 101 among others.

“I believe they also considered our accomplishments in our campaign against illegal drugs”, said Abrahano.

Abrahano acknowledged the support of the city government unit headed by Mayor Belen Fernandez and the community as a big factor for the recognition they received.

“It is very helpful that the LGU and the community have a harmonious relationship with us in achieving the goal of peace and order in the city”, said Abrahano.

He recalled how the city government and the community responded to their plea for support through the K-Pulis Program.

“The people in the barangays were with us patrolling, conducting checkpoints for one purpose, to secure their community against illegal elements”, said Abrahano.

“This award will serve as an inspiration for us to work more and I hope this will also inspire the community to be even more vigilant as we foresee that many more trials will come our way but we are ready to rise above them all once again”, he added. (Hilda Austria)

MAYOR BELEN LAUDS DCPS PERFORMANCE

DAGUPAN City Mayor Belen T. Fernandez led the city in congratulating the members of the Dagupan City Police Station (DCPS) headed by P/Supt. Christopher Abrahano, in her State of the City address last Monday for being cited as the “Most Outstanding Police Station” in the country.

Abrahano was, however in Camp Crame in Quezon City to receive the award so he was not around to hear the mayor’s accolade.

“This is the reason why our police chief is not here with us today,” the mayor said in her speech.

Fernandez acknowledged that there were fewer crime incidents recorded as borne by a 16 percent drop in the city’s crime index compared to 2013.

She said robbery cases decreased by 46 per cent in 2015 compared to last year’s record.

“Only the blind would tell you that they do not see police presence,” the mayor said.

She added that the police’s Oplan Lambat, the installation of closed circuit television cameras in densely populated areas, the provision of police patrol vehicles and motorcycles helped provide fast and efficient response whenever needed.

Fernandez lauded particularly the police’s campaign against illegal drugs, “possibly the most successful ever launched in Pangasinan and Region 1”.

The police here had launched 111 drug clearing operations in 2015 and seized drugs amounting to P1.4 million and arrested 116 persons. Comparatively, in 2014, there were 93 operations that led to the arrest of 132 persons, she added.

Fernandez said the Dangerous Drugs Board led by its Secretary Antonio Villar Jr. awarded the city the Hall of Fame in 2014 with plaque of recognition of the city’s anti-drug abuse campaigns being held here. (Tita Roces)
