Dagupan earns 2015 SGLG award

THE Fernandez administration again earned for the Dagupan City government the coveted Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

This was confirmed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government ‘s (DILG) Pangasinan Provincial Director Reggie R. Colisao during her meeting with City Mayor Belen T. Fernandez last week.

Colisao said the city government rated highly in three core assessment areas and three essential criteria making it eligible to access P5 million from the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF).

The city government rated high in financial housekeeping, disaster preparedness and social protection and as business friendly and competitive LGU, peace and order, and environmental management.

Colisao said rating high in one of the three essential criteria was enough but Dagupan preformed well in all the criteria.

 

“The PCF will be used for projects that support MDG-PPAs, Disaster Risk Reduction Management, Local Economic Development and Solid Waste Management.

Ms. Fernandez said she is elated by the news because it further validated that the fruits of her labor is now reaping recognition and honor from various agencies like the DILG.

Other awards and citations bestowed on the city include the 2014 DILG Seal of Good Local Financial Housekeeping, 2014 national finalist for the Presidential Seal of Child-friendly Local Governance, 2014 Best Local Chief Executive Awardee from PNP Regional Office 1, 2014 and  second place in the Search for Outstanding Libraries with Services for People with Disabilities awarded by the National Library of the Philippines;

The 2014 Hall of Famer awardee in the campaign against illegal drugs  by Dangerous Drugs  Board Secretary Antonio  Villar Jr., 2015 PhilHealth Agila Award for being the Best Forerunner in Sponsored Program Implementation–City Category, 2015 Most Resourceful City awarded by the League of Cities of the Philippines, 2015 Rafael M. Salas Population  and Development  Merit  Award and 2015 Gawad Kalasag Award-independent city category. (Leonardo Micua)
