City’s 120-day feeding program takes off in Pogo Chico

DAGUPAN CITY – The Inner Wheel Club of Dagupan and the city government jointly launched on August 13 a 120-day feeding program for 25 malnourished children of Barangay Pogo Chico.

The Inner Wheel Club of Dagupan and the Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines, Incorporated District 379 have in the past been actively supporting the programs of the city, especially when Mayor Belen T. Fernandez was already at the helm especially during the presidency of Dr. Arlene Sanchez who is now the District Treasurer of District 379.

Aside from giving nutritious meal, the Inner Wheel Club of Dagupan also distributed coloring books and pencils to the 25 children headed by Inner Wheel Club of Dagupan president Vyan C. Armas along with Sanchez, past President Coring Ramos, past Vice-president Lily Chua, International Service Officer Marie Manuyag, past President Alice Lioanag and past District Chairman Michelle Lioanag.

The healthy meal of macaroni soup and biscuits was prepared by the City Nutrition Office headed by Analiza K. Fernandez.

Punong Barangay Brian Kua thanked the city for choosing his barangay as recipient of the program.

Apart from feeding, the Inner Wheel Club of Dagupan will also educate the mothers of the children on parenting, proper hygiene and sanitation and will teach them alternative livelihood program so that they can help provide the needs of their families.

“It is important as a component of our feeding program to also prepare the parents on how to sustain the nutritious feeding of their children so that they will grow healthy and strong and become good citizens,” said Sanchez.

In addition, some 70 senior citizens will be given free eye check-up on August 15 at the Senior Citizen Recreational Center at the city plaza. (CIO)
