City cops fight drugs with zumba and taebo

URDANETA CITY—Leave it to the Urdaneta City Police Station (UCPS) to adopt a new tact to discourage the use of illegal drugs in the community.

They entice the community to dance the zumba and join the taebo exercise regularly with its personnel during scheduled symposiums not only on illegal drugs but on anti-child abuse, anti-bullying act and anti-rape law.

P/Insp. Ria Tacderan, chief of the police community relations (PCR) of UCPS said she introduced zumba and taebo to make the symposium interesting and to promote the importance of exercise for a healthy lifestyle.

Members of Urdaneta City PNP dance zumba and taebo in regular physical activity since last week, now even in anti-illegal drug symposiums.

Led by the policemen and women of UCPS, they go around the city promoting “Pulis at mamamayan do the move – Let us groove, let us together fight illegal drugs!”

“We are reaching out to our communities and informing the children and women of their rights,” Tacderan said. She attributed the decline of shooting incidents in the our city by 80 to 90%” to making members of the community more aware of their rights.

Members of UCPS do the zumba and taebo on Tuesdays and Thursdays regularly led by Tacderan herself who said she learned the moves by watching videos on YouTube.

UCPS is the first to start its own zumba and taebo sessions among the police stations in the province. (Hilda Austria)
