17 young bakers urged to use skills for livelihood

LINGAYEN — Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. urged 17 young Pangasinense who received a 10-day training on bread and pastries-making under the TESDA program in partnership with the provincial government, to continue to develop the skills they acquired for their livelihood.

He encouraged them to do more for themselves during a courtesy call made by the new young bakers on the governor to thank him for the opportunity granted them.

The 15 trainees were the third batch trained by local chefs and bakers at El Jardine Hotelier and Training Center located in Lingayen.

Consuelo Casipit, president of El Jardine Hotelier and Training Center, commended Mr. Espino for the support he continuously extends to the youth sector especially those from disadvantaged families.

The TESDA baking and pastry course is a short-term vocational course being offered in different accredited training centers in which trainees can avail of free study program through the scholarship integration with the local government.

Aside from the TESDA baking and pastry course offered to the youth, the provincial government through the PESO has likewise provided culinary and techno production training for at least 50 displaced Overseas Filipino Workers from various parts of the province.

Meanwhile, the governor said he intends to pursue the livelihood training program with TESDA to empower housewives. (PIO)
