LINGAYEN– The Sangguniang Panlalawigan hailed a Pangasinan chess champion who recently won anew in an international competition.

The provincial board, in a resolution, commended 15-year old Samantha Glo Revita for winning one gold medal and three silver medals in the recently concluded 16th ASEAN Age Group Chess Championship held in Singapore on June 8-17, 2015.

“Revita has already made her mark in the national and international chess leagues by winning gold, silver, and bronze medals in the National Age Group and ASEAN Age Group Chess Championships in the past years,” stated the resolution.

At the age of 13 years old, Revita has already earned the title Woman FIDE Master.

“The accomplishments of Revita in displaying a high level of performance and excellence in chess is worthy of emulation among the other youths and sports enthusiasts of this province,” the resolution authored by sixth district board members Ranjit Shahani and Alfonso Bince Jr. also noted.

Revita is a grade 10 student at the Rosales National High School in her hometown, Rosales.

Revita and Marella Vania Salamat, another winner in the recent SEA Games, have been invited to receive copies of their SP commendations.

Last June 22, the SP ratified provincial resolution no. 1387-2015 commending Salamat for being a gold medalist in the Women’s Cycling, 30-kilometer Individual Time Trial category. (Johanne Macob)
