URBIZTONDO—Units of a joint housing project by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the municipal government of Urbiztondo will soon be constructed and distributed to some 200 resident-families of the town.

Urbiztondo Mayor Martin Raul Sison said the housing units will mitigate the town’s problems with informal settlers.

The housing project is under the DSWD Core Shelter Assistance Program (CSAP) originally intended for 150 families, but was later adjusted on the mayor’s request. At least two hectares of land in Brgy. Batangcaoa was allocated for the program.

The beneficiaries will also be given livelihood project for sustainability, i.e., grow fish in the water-impounding system at the back of the housing units to be built, develop handicrafts, etc.

Meanwhile, the town government is set to construct multi-purpose gymnasiums in Brgys. Galarin, Bayaoas, Baug, Anggatel, and Real; and road networks along the villages of Salavante and Dalangiring. (Johanne R. Macob)
