FOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION

ALAMINOS CITY—The city council has asked the provincial board to authorize the cutting of trees along the road that will be traversed by the construction of the Alaminos-Bani bypass road.

Earning the provincial board’s approval is necessary after it adopted Resolution No. 269-2014 opposing the cutting of trees along the national and local roads in Pangasinan with the intent to preserve as many trees as possible.

“This august body deemed it necessary to request the Sangguniang Panlalawigan that the proposed cutting of trees be an exemption to the above cited resolution subject to other rules and regulations of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and other concerned agencies,” the resolution said.

Based on initial survey conducted, there is a need to cut some trees, whose actual numbers have yet to be ascertained, that will be traversed by the road line of the Alaminos-Bani bypass road in this city.

Sixth District Board Member Alfonso Bince Jr. said Monday the board will refer the request to the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office for comments before the provincial board can act on it. (Tita Roces)
