ALAMINOS CITY– Local farmers will likely have more advantage about new technology over their counterparts in other areas when they complete the course offered by the Farmers’ Field School (FFS) in this city.

Launched last July 3 in Barangay Tawin-Tawin, the field school on sustainable rice production is a program funded by the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 1 and being implemented by the City Agriculture Office headed by Arceli Talania.

The program is backed by the expertise of local farmer technicians Romel Puruganan and Boy Cristy Rosales who serve as facilitators of the 16-week actual training conducted every Friday. Main topic in the FFS is on integrated pest management.

The training will increase income and consequently lessen the production costs of the farmers, Vice Mayor Earl James Aquino said, representing Mayor Arthur Celeste at the opening ceremonies. (Johanne R. Macob)
