Will you marry me in January, not this month?

PANGASINAN couples preferred to be married in January, not in June for the vaunted June bride, or February during the so-called love month.

The Philippines Statistics Authority (formerly National Statistics Office) in Calasiao, Pangasinan, recorded 2,579 marriages in January last year, the biggest in the rest of the year.

This is followed by February with 2,049 and April, the peak of summer heat with 2,046.

The cold December listed third with 1,703 marriages, followed by the rainy season of May with 1,848 and the hot March with 1,322.

While some women dream to be called June bride, this month, however, it came up only as the 7th preferred month with 1,257.

August had the least number of marriages with only 563. (Tita Roces)
