TODA brass gunned down by hitmen-riding-in-tandem

3rd CALASIAO SHOOTING VICTIM

CALASIAO—The 46-year-old president of the Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) here was killed by hitmen-riding-in-tandem criminals last June 14.

P/Supt. Joseph Rizaldy Dalope, Calasiao police chief, identified the victim as Joel Torio also known as “Jojo”, TODA president and resident of Barangay Nalsian Centro Calasiao.

Dalope said Torio had just arrived home with his family from a party in Barangay Longos when the suspects on board a motorcycle fired at him three times and escaped.

Torio was shot in his left arm and armpit that pierced his lungs.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on Monday.

Recovered from the scene were three spent shell casing and two slugs from a cal. 45.

A relative of the victim told the investigators that before Torio expired, he identified a certain “Galor” as the man behind the attempt on his life.

Imelda Torio, wife of the victim confirmed that her husband and “Galor” had an altercation in San Carlos City leading Dalope to suspect that the motive for the killing was an old grudge.

The police are now tracking the suspect.

Torio is the third victim of shooting in the town from January to June 14 this year. (Hilda Austria)
