SP honors SRPC Japanese CEO

ADOPTED SON OF PANGASINAN

LINGAYEN—By virtue of a resolution of Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the president, chairman, and chief executive officer of the San Roque Power Corporation (SRPC) has been declared an adopted son of Pangasinan.

Provincial resolution no. 1368-2015 sponsored by Board Member Alfonso Bince Jr., decreed that Ryukichi Kawaguchi as an “Adopted Son of Pangasinan.”

“One need not to be a true Pangasinense to fully serve the province of Pangasinan in terms of leading a private company involved in hydroelectric power generation,” stated the resolution read.

SRPC has been operating in Pangasinan, its main office located in San Manuel, under Kawaguchi’s stewardship.

The resolution acknowledged that SRPC “has become increasingly active in organizing and financing development projects that have benefitted different local communities…” under Kawaguchi’s leadership since 2003.

The company “has been part in the promotion of the interests of Pangasinan locals in the areas of microfinance, capacity-building, community empowerment, infrastructure facilities, health care, children’s welfare, environmental information campaign, and disaster relief operations,” the resolution read.

It also “recognizes the role of Mr. Ryukichi Kawaguchi in promoting stronger ties between and among provincial and local leaders in the province.”

Last May 27-31, on the invitation of Kawaguchi, Gov. Amado Espino Jr., Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr. and other officials of the provincial government traveled to Japan to study the possibility of maximizing hydroelectricity in the province. (Johanne Macob)
