MANGALDAN—A series of security awareness dialogue with banks and other financial institutions was recently launched to help them understand how they can protect themselves against criminal elements.

The municipal government were in coordination with the Mangaldan Police Station (MPS) last week, P/Supt. Jackie Candelario, chief of MPS said the dialogue discusses how to prevent criminals from victimizing banks and financial institutions like pawnshops, money remittances among others in the town.

He said the first dialogue held with the employees of the Rural Bank of Mangaldan and will be followed by nine more.

Among the topics is tips on how to identify possible criminals including their motive, opportunities and instrumentalities in performing the crime.

For starters, the MPS asks to check the lifestyles of their employees and be certain

that none of their employees are drug dependents because illegal drug dependents have the tendency to commit crimes”, said Candelario.

Meanwhile, the MPS urged the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) to pass an ordinance requiring the business owners to install closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in their establishments.

“They should make use of our technology like the CCTV cameras, as these will be helpful in crime prevention and in police investigations,” said Candelario.

The LGU already installed CCTV cameras in public areas in the town. (Hilda Austria)
