BIGGEST VOTING POPULATION

WITH 2016 elections just around the corner, wonder no more why presidential wannabes have started visiting Pangasinan.

The province has the biggest number of voters with biometrics registration for the 2016 elections.

Lawyer Marino Salas, provincial election officer, said the province is already tagged as number one nationwide among the provinces with 1.5 million voters and higher.

As of last week, only 7.81 percent (118,000) of qualified voters in the province have not undergone voters’ biometrics validation.

Salas said the high level of registration was made possible through the series of off-site markets, churches, schools, malls and barangays’ validation in the province.

He said deadline for the biometrics registration is up to October 31 this year.

Areas that still reflect 10 to 13 percent of voters that need to be validated are cities of Dagupan and San Carlos, and Calasiao, Malasiqui,  Sta. Barbara town.

“They should remember that no validation, no voting in the next elections,” Salas added.

Biometrics validation requires digital images (or pictures) of voters, fingerprints and signature will be taken (or captured) using Comelec’s Voter Registration Machine. (Tita Roces)
