NKTI offers free medical services

LINGAYEN- The Renal Disease Control Program (REDCOP) of the National Kidney Transplant Institute (NKTI) will be brought to Pangasinan to offer free urinalysis, blood sugar screening and consultation in Region I Medical Ccnter (R1MC) in Dagupan City on June 17.

Dr. Susan Jorge, program manager, said Redcop provides information and services about renal disease with the end view of lessening the number of victims or patients.

A forum on renal health promotion and prevention will also be conducted.

Dagupan City Mayor Belen Fernandez thanked the team for its services to the city.

Kidney disease was identified by the National Statistics Office as the No. 8 leading cause of deaths in 2007. The magnitude of the End-Stage Renal Disease problem can be gleaned from the increase in number of patients undergoing dialysis treatment, from 7,472 in 2007 to 23, 364 in 2013. (PIA Pangasinan)
