Ravina best PH rider in Indonesia bikathon

ASINGAN cyclist Baler Ravina, representing continental team 7-11 Road Bike Philippines, emerged as the best cyclist among the Filipino squad by landing 13th overall in the general classification of the four-day annual Tour of Ijen in Banyuwang, East Java, Indonesia on May 6-9.

Ravina, 32, the winner of the 2012 Le Tour de Filipinas was clipped by 8:19 by defending champion Frenchman Peter Pouly of Singha team. His time propelled the Philippine contingent 4th overall out of 20 squads won by Asia’s well-known Ukyo team.

Teammates Felipe Marcelo placed 18th and two-time national Tour titlist Mark Galedo finished 19th while Ryan Cayubit and province mate Dominique Perez of Sto. Tomas landed 23rd and 64th, respectively.

The Ijen bikefest is a tune-up race for the five-man national squad for the coming Singapore Southeast Asia Games slated on June 6-16. (JAG, Jr.)
