NINE suspected drug pushers in possession of 36 sachets containing shabu were arrested in Dagupan City last Wednesday after search warrants were served in Barangay 2 and 3.

The confiscated illegal drug had an estimated street value of P.5 million.

The operation was conducted by the joint elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 1 office, Dagupan City Police Station (DCPS) and the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO).

Adrian Alvarino, regional director of PDEA, said two of the nine arrested suspects were confirmed members of the target drug group in the area.

The arrested suspects were identified as Edmund Guzman aka Edmund Sual and Lilia Ansari and seven persons present within the residence of target houses were also invited in the station for further investigation.

“This operation has an impact on the illegal drug trade in the city since our surveillance showed there is proliferation of illegal drugs in the area.” Alvarino said.

P/Supt. Christopher Abrahano, chief of DCPS, said aside from the big volume of suspected shabu, financial documents related to the drug operations were also seized in one of the houses searched.

He said the documents can prove to be helpful in future operations and investigations.

One of the documents seized is a money remittance amounting to P600, 000.

The DCPS already arrested 63 persons, seized 68 grams of illegal drugs in their 51 drug operations in the first quarter of this year. (Hilda Austria)
