Lessons in life

COJUANGCO UPDATE

BE true, love the people and be grateful to where you came from.

These are the lessons that former Pangasinan fifth district Rep. Mark Cojuangco said he learned from his parents as a Christian.

Speaking during the Pinagpalang Calasiao: Gabi ng Pasasalamat under the Calasiao Ministerial Association led by its president Bong Flores on May 7, 2015 at the Calasiao town plaza, Cojuangco said the most important lesson his Catholic religion taught him is to love other people.

He said being blessed with many God’s graces like wealth is meaningless and useless if he could not help others. Cojuangco belongs to a rich family and is the son of business tycoon Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco and wife Gretchen.

LESSONS IN LIFE

Judging from their status in life, the young Cojuangco’s children and later his grandchildren and great grandchildren could live a comfortable life.

But he told the crowd that he searched for a deeper meaning and purpose in his life by presenting himself as an alternative candidate. He said he wanted to help, especially the needy, through public service.

“I believe that as a provincial leader, I could make a difference in the lives of Pangasinenses,” the three-term congressman said.

He added, “As a Christian, I was taught to love people. Regardless of your status in life, what is important is your intention must be to do good.”

At 57, Cojuangco said he wanted to use well his God’s gifts to him like his experience, knowledge and skills to help Pangasinenses.

He said he has many ideas that are not common but if people would see the sense and logic of the projects he envisions to put up in the province, he can be “a catalyst for change for the better in the province”.

He said he wants to set a good example and let people see there are better ways of achieving things.

Cojuangco said goodwill, if espoused by all, is infectious.

He left this message to the participants: Love one another, be dependable and keep your words.
