DAGUPAN CITY – The eleven families displaced by the fire on Amado Street received housing materials from Mayor Belen T. Fernandez last May 13 as she had promised when she visited them on May 7 at the barangay’s Basketball court where they are temporarily sheltered.

Each of the families received five galvanized iron sheets, 10 pieces of marine plywood, five pieces of good lumber, umbrella nails, common wire nails and 50 pieces of hollow blocks.

At the same time, Fernandez instructed City Social Welfare and Development Officer Leah L. Aquino to assist the victims by providing members some livelihood skills through the city’s Project B.E.L.E.N., and to look after the well-being of the children and include them among the 4Ps beneficiaries if they are qualified.

“There is an ongoing class session on cosmetology and commercial cooking where we can immediately enroll the mothers here so that they can help provide for their families especially meals for their children,” Fernandez said.

Aquino said that the names of the fire victims will be submitted to the enumerators of the Department of Social Welfare and Development that will evaluate if they are qualified to be included in the list of 4Ps beneficiaries.

Fernandez also instructed Engineer Virginia V. Rosario to repair the community’s existing deep well so that the fire victims can have clean water with which to clean their surroundings to prevent grass fire.

Kailangan mabilis ang serbisyo natin kasi alam na natin ang kanilang pangangailangan,” Fernandez said. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO)
