LINGAYEN – Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. (GATE) hailed the performance of 37 varsity players and trainer-coaches from various private tertiary schools in Pangasinan, who contributed greatly to the over-all performance of Region 1 in the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) National Games held last April 11-17 in Iloilo City.

Region 1 hauled 3 gold, 6 silver and 26 bronze medals in the PRISAA Games and romped off with the 11th spot in the overall ranking out of 16 participating regions.

Three gold medals were contributed by athletes who ruled in karatedo, boxing and athletics, respectively. Silver and Bronze placements, on the other hand, were won in sepak takraw, athletics, table tennis, karatedo, taekwondo and boxing.

In a courtesy call on May 13, Governor Espino, urged the athletes and coaches to train harder to further enhance their dexterity and skills on their sports inclinations as he assured them of the provincial government’s all support in their forthcoming competitions.

PRISAA Regional President Guillermo dela Cruz Jr. credited the provincial government for the improved performance of Region 1.

“Very supportive din si Governor Espino at laging nagbibigay ng cash assistance para sa mga atleta,” Dela Cruz said.

During the courtesy call, Guillermo received Php 50,000 from Gov. Espino as incentive for the winning Pangasinense players and coaches. (PIO)
