Disaster holds resiliency camp for Pangasinan youth

THE Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) will gather teens in a disaster resiliency camp to encourage these young people to take on active roles in disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) on May 21-22 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center in Lingayen.

Dubbed as “Wemboree for the Youth,” the camp is one of the components of the Operation Listo that seeks to educate Filipinos on the importance of disaster preparedness.

DILG Provincial Director Reggie Colisao said the “Wemboree” (an acronym for ‘we’ and ‘jamboree’ ) will gather young, able-bodied people from different communities, academic institutions and organizations to celebrate one goal of changing the mindset from “me” to “we.”

It will lead to the creation of Provincial, City and Municipal Youth Volunteers Desk for DRRM,” added Colisao. (PIA-1, Pangasinan)
