MANGATAREM-  Employees of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the Ilocos Region staged the 2nd Annual Eco-Adventure Race to Manleluag Spring Protected Landscape to promote another protected landscape in the province.

Mangatarem is one of only two parks in Pangasinan proclaimed by the National Integrated Protected Areas System (NIPAS) Law as a ‘Protected National Park’. It is rich in bio-diversity and is home to more than 300 species of birds.

The ‘survivor-themed’ adventure was aimed at providing DENR employees an opportunity to re-learn appreciating the beauty of protected areas and conserve resources, Leduina Co of PENRO-Pangasinan said.

After the race, female employees took part in the Search for Binibining Kalikasan.

The other proclaimed national park is the Hundred Islands National Park in Alaminos City. (PIA-Pangasinan)
