12-year-old shooter wins Junior Division

A 12-year old boy from Nueva Ecija joined other elite shooters in the 2015 Bangus Festival Top Cop Challenge (TCC) during the two-day competition on April 25 and 26 at the Dagupan Practical Shooting Association (DPSA) firing range in Bonuan Binloc here and went home with the Junior Division trophy. Lido De Guzman, a qualifier in the 2011 PNoy Cup – World Shoot Competition, is the youngest shooter member of the Travelers of Nueva Ecija Shooting Association (TONESA). He started shooting when he was 7 years old.

The TCC was officially opened by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez who also joined the ceremonial shooting using a .45 caliber pistol.

The shooting competition, now on its 2nd year in the annual Bangus Festival and chaired by Police Superintendent Christopher N. Abrahano, Dagupan City PNP Chief of Police (COP) in partnership with the DPSA headed by Benedict Macaraeg, M.D. with Patrick Rosario as event organizer.

Abrahano said it is the objective of the contest to make everyone be familiar with gun safety handling.

Former Dagupan City PNP COP Police Superintendent Romeo Caramat ruled the Standard Division under the Former COP Dagupan City Police Station (DCPS) category.

Rob Erfe Mejia, 2012 Asia Pacific Champion, finished 2nd runner-up in the Standard Division, Division Awards Category which was ruled by Gerard Loy.

Other winners in the Division Awards Category were Melvin Calde, champion, Classic Division; Richard Barrozo, champion, Production Division; Fernando Cabanela, champion, Open Division.

In the Top Cop Award category, the winner was Charlie Angya-On in the Production Division.

Under the Special Awards, Bernabe Ramos ruled the DCPS Standard; Lamberto Ferrer in the DCPS Production and Rudy Ulanday in the DCPS Lady.

In the Mini Rifle, Ed Yao ruled the Open Division and Meds Suitos in the Standard Division.

COP Abrahano, however, ruled the Shotgun Standard Division.

Under the Range Officer Category, Louie Zareno ruled the Standard Division; Nap Panganiban, Classic Division; Cesar Gomez, Production Division; and Sam Maguddatu, Open Division.

Marissa Cariño ruled the Lady Standard Division and Jeanette Dulnuan in the Production Division.

In the Senior Category, James Lavarias ruled the Standard Division; Bernard Casusi, Classic Division; and Gilbert Atioan, Production Division; while Pax Bautista ruled the Super Senior Standard Division Category.

In the Local Government Unit Category Jorgaine Rarang and Mickey Perez ruled in the Classic and Production Divisions respectively.

In the Lawman category, Johnson Pre ruled the Standard Division; Mets Patting, Classic Division and Cesar Lumiwes, Production Division.

Nobody won in the Media/Celebrity Category because no media practitioner joined. (CIO)
