MALASIQUI-ABONO PROJECT

MALASIQUI—Some 128 slots for vocational courses have been opened to out-of-school- youths (OSYs) of the town this week by the Malasiqui government in collaboration with the Technical Skills Development Authority (TESDA) provincial office.

Mayor Armando Domantay Sr., said 68 slots were opened for welding course, 28 for housekeeping and 28 for practical electrical installation. Enrollees will be trained for 200-hours.

“While there is no age limit as long as they want to be trained, however, we want to encourage the OSYs or those who do not have a job”, said Domantay.

The project was funded with P1 million by the ABONO Partylist.

Domantay said the graduates of these technical vocational courses will earn a National Certificate II (NCII) that can be used for employment abroad.

“Aside from the certificate, graduates will be given their starter’s kit”, said Domantay.

He said this is part of the anti-poverty livelihood program.

“Although there were only a few slots opened, we are looking forward to adding more slots, and these will be reserved for those who were not included in the first batch,” said Domantay. (Hilda Austria)
