Pista’y Dayat, Agew na Pangasinan open with a bang

ANNUAL TWIN CELEBRATIONS

LINGAYEN— Striking sounds and colors greeted the thousands of spectators that gathered to witness the opening of the Pista’y Dayat (sea festival) 2015 and 435thAgew na Pangasinan last April 8.

Various groups that showcased their skills in streetdancing and playing the drum and lyre quickly set the mood for the twin festivities.

Gov. Amado T. Espino Jr. led the locals and visitors in the opening of two of the most celebrated festivals in the province.

Mr. Espino urged the revelers to continue demonstrating their love for the province by caring for their families and their environment.

Fr.-Orbos

Fr. Agerico “Jerry” Orbos receives his plaque as ASNA Awardee for 2015 from Gov. Amado Espino Jr. Fr. Orbos was the guest of honor and speaker during the 435th Agew na Pangasinan Commemorative program.

He cited Pista’y Dayat as an effective activity in promoting the products of the province particularly through the annual trade expo that was also launched in the opening ceremonies.

According to provincial tourism officer, Malu Elduayan, this year’s trade expo which willl run till May 2, has gathered local entrepreneurs in the province to promote the Pangasinan pride.

Also launched on the same day were the Bonsai Plants and Garden Exhibit, PanagARTe La Art Exhibit, and Tamiya Mini 4WD Exhibit and Car Show at the PTDC.

In the evening of the Pistay Dayat’s first day, the crowd enjoyed “Paliket Ed Aplaya”, a variety show with the province’s home-grown artists.

Various activities including the Limgas na Pangasinan pageant, water sports events, among others are lined up until May 3.

Pista’y Dayat is the celebration of the sea that provides bounties for the province while Agew na Pangasinan celebrates not only the province’s birth but also the achievements of noted Pangasinenses. (Johanne Macob)
