Pangasinan Prov’l Chorale wows communities in Jakarta

LINGAYEN – The Pangasinan Provincial Chorale (PPC) group’s tour in Jakarta City, Indonesia virtually turned into diplomatic thrust through music between the provincial government and the city of Jakarta.

The Christian community in Jakarta, Indonesia cited members of the as ‘diplomats’ during a concert tour last March 11-23 for the Diamond Anniversary celebration of Sekolah Tinggi Teologi.

Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO) chief Janet Asis, reported this to Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. during the group’s courtesy call last week.

Elated over the recent accomplishment of PPC, Mr. Espino assured full support to the upcoming performances of the chorale group with Joy Nilo, a renowned composer and song writer as Choir Master.

The concert tour in Indonesia was upon the invitation of Rev. Stephen Suleeman, Director of Research and Community Service in Jakarta Theological Seminary.

“On our final day in Jakarta, we were considered as Diplomats. We were even escorted by a mobile patrol from our concert venue to the airport. All other fees in the airport were also shouldered by Indonesian government officials,” Ferlynor Aranda, PPC president, said

Aranda said PPC members were also taught three Indonesian songs – Ondel Ondel, Bengawan Solo and Tuhan Memberkati – which they performed during the concert tour.

PPC members who performed in Indonesia were: Ferlynor Aranda, Fe Baluyot, Noli Salo, Esther Grace Sison, Ruth Angie Teja, Ma. Joy Mapula, Jose Santos Jr., Ricardo Fercol, Ma. Cynthia Vila, Marilyn Buduan, Ma. Ella Broqueza, Ruben Nicholi Pescador, Josue Vidal, Arminda de Quintos, Dominador Cara, Gilbert Vila, Anavi Viray, Mary Belle Sison, Eugenio Carlos Paragas, Roman Vila Jr. and Roldan Palinar.

The PPC also performed in Bogor, GKP Jabar Cisarua; GPIB Paulus, STT Jakarta (a school), Choral Clinic, GPIB; GKP Cawang and Methodist Kelapa Gading; DPIB Bukit Moria. (PIO)
