BOOSTING BANI’S WHITE BEACHES

BANI– More homeowners have signified their intention to have their respective houses be rented to tourists under the town’s homestay program.

The town’s mayor, Gwen Yamamoto, said the five new prospective participants in the town’s homestay program are already undergoing training in preparation for their accreditation by the Department of Tourism.

“Two more have signified their intention to join,” the mayor said as she disclosed that the construction of a private hotel in the town has started.

All the homes are located in the Poblacion area and therefore convenient to tourists, said Ms. Yamamoto, who visited and studied the successful homestay program of Pagudpud town in Ilocos Norte.

The hotel will be in addition to the existing two resorts/hotels in Barangays Surip and Dacap Sur, which cater about 30 and 50 people, respectively.

There is already a room-stay facility available in the town proper that can accommodate 15 visitors.

Bani offers visitors five white beaches and a cave to explore and enjoy and Ms. Yamamoto is optimistic that that town’s tourism industry will take off creditably this summer. (Johanne Macob)
