LINGAYEN BEACH SUMMER FUN

LINGAYEN– The provincial government’s Health Office (PHO) and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) are set to work 24/7 to ensure that they achieve their zero-drowning and zero-fatality along the Lingayen beach shoreline this summer as ‘Agew na Pangasinan’ and ‘Pista’y Dayat’ are celebrated from April 8 to May 3.

According to PHO chief, Dr. Anna De Guzman, the health emergency response teams (HERT) now stationed at the Lingayen Beach had completed their training recently and are ready to respond to any emergency.

De Guzman also advised the public to be cautious in the presence of jellyfish whose sting can cause serious skin problems. Last year, the PHO listed 17 cases of jellyfish sting.
Meanwhile, PDRRMO’s chief Fernando De Guzman, said there are three water search and rescue (WASAR) teams composed of seven members each, that are stationed at the  beach area daily, on a shifting basis, from 6a.m. to 6p.m.
The two office chiefs said adequate warning signs have been posted along the beach.

The HERT and WASAR team will have a heightened patrolling at the Lingayen beach until May 4, or until the end of the festivities.- (Johanne Macob)
