Agew na Pangasinan, Pista’y Dayat start April 8

SIZZLING TWIN CELEBRATION

LINGAYEN- -Pangasinenses and tourists have reason to wait for summertime in the province,

Pangasinan sizzles with a wide array of fun-filled activities showcasing the sun, sand, sea, products, beauty, history, arts and culture of the province via the back-to-back celebration of Agew na Pangasinan (Pangasinan Day) and Pistay Dayat (Sea Festival).

This year’s double treat reels off on April 8 with an opening program followed by the unveiling of this year’s Trade and Tourism Expo at the beachfront area here where the province’s finest products will be displayed.

The opening day continues with Paliket ed Aplaya, featuring local artists who will sing in Pangasinan.

Celebration of the province’s foundation day climaxes on April 10 that starts Misa na Pisasalamat, followed by Programa Parad Agew na Pangasinan and the crowd-drawing Parada na Dayew at the Capitol Complex featuring floats of various contingents from LGUs and private firms in the province, with special appearances of GMA talents Louise Delos Reyes and Julian Trono joining the parade.

The most accomplished Pangasinenses in different fields will take centerstage during the prestigious ASNA Awards Night at the Sison Auditorium on April 10, 7 p.m.

Tourism Officer Ma. Luisa A. Elduayan, who chairs this year’s Pista’y Dayat committee, said after the Agew na Pangasinan an array of fun activities await visitors and spectators until May 3.

Celebration of music and stars

Musical events are lined up as special features of the celebration to include Pangasinan Music Fest on April 11, Kapuso Fans Day with GMA royalty Marian Rivera-Dantes at the Capitol Plaza on April 19 and San Miguel Village opening party on April 24at the beachfront area.

Other sponsored-events are Guanzon Festival on April 25 and 26, SMB Battle of the Bands eliminations starting April 27, SMB Acoustic Night on April 30 while Kapuso Night will again be held featuring some GMA stars on May 1.

Celebration of sun, sand, sea and sports

Celebrating summer in Pangasinan necessarily includes the display of crafts and artistry among sculptors/artists through the Sand Sculpting/Castle Competition on April 30.

Skimboarding enthusiasts will be treated to an exciting whole-day exhibition on April 26 while volleyball aficionados will have a chance to watch a Beach Volleybelles competition on April 30 to May 1.

Another attraction is the TNR-BC Tamiya Mini-4WD Race to be held on April 19 at the PTDC.

Celebration of beauty

Pangasinan is home to beautiful people. There is nothing more significant than to select the fairest maiden to be crowned as Limgas na Pangasinan from among the 25 equally lovely and witty candidates this year during the Talent Night competition on April 24, 8 PM at the Sison Auditorium.

Main pageant and coronation night will be on April 30, 8PM at the Capitol Plaza. Thie pageant will feature showbiz personalities Chynna Ortaleza, as host, and Rafael Rossell, who will serenade the beauties.

Main event (May 1)

All roads will lead to the Capitol area for the Misa na Pasasalamat, 8AM at the beachfront followed by the Talk N Text Panalo Ka Pilipinas activity at 9AM.

Simultaneously, the Banca Parada–which promotes environmental awareness and showcases the beauty and cleanliness of Pangasinan rivers– will commence at 9a.m.  During the event, over a hundred colorful boats will set sail on Agno River starting from Sitio Bantayan, Pangapisan North, Lingayen and end at the foot of Banaga Bridge in Bugallon.

For a good view of the fluvial parade, spectators are advised to position themselves at the Domalandan Bridge in Lingayen and the Banaga Bridge, near the riverbank of Agno River.

Meanwhile, fun continues at the Lingayen beach featuring beach with the Beach Volleyballs where six Pangasinan teams will compete with six teams representing universities and colleges in Metro Manila.

Night activities will certainly give life to the sea festival with Kapuso Night as the frontrunner at 6 p.m while the SMB Battle of the Bands grand finals and Reggae Night will regal visitors with their brand of music.

Post-event highlight

The festival continues to May 3 with TNT Big Fight! Laban ni Pacquiao as main feature.

Pangasinenses will have a chance to watch the much-awaited boxing fight of the century via live telecast at the Narciso Ramos and Sports Civic Center (NRSCC) gym. (PIO)
