Other honorees this year are: Rebecca Bustamante (Entrepreneurship), Dr. Cecilia Daranciang (Culture and Arts), Dr. Perla Legazpi (Public Administration), Ana Marie Pamintuan (Journalism), Victor Ramos (Environment), Emilio Estrella Sanglay, Jr. (Music), Dr. Vivencio Villaflor, MD (Humanitarian and Civic Leadership) and Dr. Francisco Viray (Corporate Leadership).

A special recognition award for public service was also given to Atty. Hermogenes Pobre, a distinguished career public official who was married to a Pangasinense from Lingayen.

“It is true that long before the advent of globalization which weigh excellence as the only known performance, there were already achievers among our province mates who have settled for nothing less than doing their best for their chosen fields of endeavor, Governor Espino stressed during the awards night as he commended the ASNA honorees who he considered ‘a cut above the rest’ and ‘sources of inspiration to the youth.’

“As we recognize the most successful and most prominent sons and daughters of Pangasinan, we also pay tribute to all our province mates, especially those unnamed heroes here and abroad who work for their families,” the provincial chief executive said.

These unnamed heroes, Governor Espino pointed out, have contributed immensely in the over-all effort to sustain and develop our province to pursue our vision to make “Pangasinan the best place to invest, work, live and raise a family” and our mission to make our province “Number One.”

Meanwhile, Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr. cited in his welcome remarks that there is a big difference and special thing when your own flesh and blood says ‘thank you’ or ‘I salute you.’

“There is real happiness and joy when you are honored in your community or by your family, he said.

Judge Emma Bauzon, Chairperson of 2015 ASNA awards search committee, gave the overview of the ASNA search before the awardees were each presented with the ASNA award — that was followed by their respective acceptance speeches.

Governor Espino was assisted by Judge Bauzon and the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan led by Vice Governor Calimlim in bestowing the awards to the honorees.

Some ASNA awardees in the previous years also graced the awards night: 2013 – Dr. Josephine Arquillano (Fisheries Education); 2014 – Dr. Gonzalo Duque (Public Service – Promotion of History, Culture and the Arts); 2010 – Santiago Villafania (Arts and Culture). /Mark Gerry Naval Oblanca
