PRISAA National Games set April 11-17, in Iloilo

THIS year’s PRISAA (Private Schools Athletic Association) National Games will be held, on April 1-17, at Iloilo City, and expected to be participated in by 5,000 athletes, coaches and officials representing sixteen (16) regional delegations, except Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), from private tertiary and secondary universities and colleges throughout the country.

Host PRISAA Region VI President Ralph Pador said expected to grace the Games’ Opening Ceremonies, on Sunday, April 12, are Senate President Franklin J. Drilon, Iloilo Provincial Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr., and Iloilo City Mayor Jet Patrick Mabiilog.

At stake in the week-long annual PRISAA sporting event are some 900 gold, silver and bronze medals to be contested in individual and team events (athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, boxing, chess, volleyball, sepak takraw, swimming, tennis, softball, judo, karatedo, taekwondo, and table tennis. events in the collegiate level.

In the secondary level, some 250 medals are at stake in 8 events (athletics, swimming, basketball, beach volleyball, chess, volleyball, and table tennis).

Cultural competitions for the collegiate level will also be conducted in vocal solo and vocal duet singing and search for Mutya ng PRISAA. (Philamer Celi)
