THERE are no illegal gambling activities in the province.

This was asserted by P/Sr.Supt. Ferdinand De Asis, chief of the Police Community Relations Branch/Public Information Office at the police provincial office (PPPO) during the KBP Forum on Thursday.

He said the claim is based on the monthly reports of the chiefs of police in the province submitted to the PPPO.

He said there is numbers game operating in many towns and cities in the province similar to the illegal ‘Jueteng’ operations, but these are operated by the Meridian Gaming Corporation in the towns operating legally with business permits.

He maintained the controversial operations were cleared by a court ruling.

“We continue to conduct operations against illegal gambling in the province and arrest those who are operating illegal number games without license were arrested”, said De Asis.

De Asis affirmed that PPPO’s campaign together with the Crime Investigation and Detection Group continues. (Hilda Austria)
