More OFW groups avail of Capitol’s start-up fund
FOR LIVELIHOOD PROJECTS
LINGAYEN—The provincial government hopes to see more livelihood projects started by family associations of overseas Filipino workers (OFW) after it distributed P10,000 start-up funds to each of the fifteen new associations last week.
Governor Amado Espino Jr. and Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) chief Alex Ferrer led the awarding of startup fund to the OFW family associations of Bani, Binmaley, Bugallon, Lingayen, Bayambang, Malasiqui, Mapandan, Sta. Barbara, Binalonan, Laoac, Pozorrubio, Sto. Tomas, San Manuel, Sta. Maria, and Tayug.
The startup fund is intended to cover costs of permits and documentation to enable an association to start its chosen livelihood venture.
The provincial government will continue to assist the organizations with technical and marketing efforts.
The latest group of beneficiaries formed the third batch to receive the startup fund from the province. Only ten towns remain have not organized to avail of the provincial government’s program for OFW families. (Johanne Macob/PNA)
